Hook, Line and Social Media

Hook, Line and Social Media

What will you do with the first 2-3 seconds of your social media videos? It better be good because that is all the time you typically have to grab your audience’s attention.

The hook you choose to use can keep them there longer, encourage engagement, spark conversation and even get people to watch your videos more than once.

To help you encourage views and get people to linger a little longer with your video, image and written posts, we’ve come up with some great hooks to capture those eyes. Try using one of the ideas below…

  1. Hot Topic!
  2. We’ve got the secret to…
  3. What everyone wants to know about…
  4. You’re the first to know about….
  5. We’re so excited to tell you….
  6. This just in…
  7. Our most requested product…
  8. The easiest way to…
  9. Five things no one told you about…
  10. Start this now and you’ll…
  11. How to…
  12. It’s time to…
  13. You won’t believe what happened when…
  14. The best way to…
  15. The best places to…
  16. You need these…
  17. What I wish I would have known…
  18. Proven ways to…
  19. I can’t believe I’m telling you this, but…
  20. Everyone asks for this one thing…
  21. Can I share something super quick?
  22. Do you feel this way too?
  23. This is what everyone says about…
  24. Best (blank) ever!
  25. I’ll never stop using….

When you’re writing an engaging hook, you need to follow through with content that fulfils what you’re promising in those first couple seconds. If you don’t, your audience becomes frustrated, and you can come across as cringey or scammy. If it’s too much to say in a short video, narrow down your topic and start over. And if you explain more in your caption, say that, so your audience knows to look there for more info.

You’ll also want to make sure the images or video you use with these words go together. Don’t tell us about the best lunch you’ve ever eaten and show me pictures of mountains and no food. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Authenticity goes so much further than click-bait.

Hopefully you’ll find a hook that you can use to get some attention and then follow up by wowing your potential customers with some really great info that keeps them coming back for more!
