Stop Overcomplicating Your Social Strategy - A Free Content Calendar

Free Content Calendar

Social media, whether for business or personal use, should be fun! Many times, as soon as you have a product to sell or a service to offer, your brain kicks into overdrive and you start to over analyze and complicate your social strategy.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. The best business social strategy is to have a general plan or outline for what you’d like to do, have a few “go-to” posts to keep your account active and give your audience what they want. The rest sorts itself out with a little review from time to time.

Here are some tips to keep your social approach engaging and simple:

  • Just try it! If you’re wondering if a certain type of post (like a video or a poll) would work for your business, the only way to find out is to try it. If it gets engagement, then try it again. If it doesn’t, change it up!
  • Post what your audience wants to see. Answer their questions, keep them informed and create content with your customers’ needs in mind. This helps to create happy clients who feel like they can rely on your business.
  • Break up larger pieces of content (like blogs) into smaller blurbs. This scenario helps you to get more posts out of one topic and makes it easier for your followers to digest.
  • Be YOU! Make sure that you and your social media team understands your business’ voice and stick with it. Do you use slang? Do you interject humor? Do you dive into deep topics or keep it lighthearted? Show off that personality your customers have come to enjoy.
  • Be human! It’s social If you create a space where people feel comfortable commenting, liking and sharing, you’ll find your posts perform better and it helps to garner future content with their questions and ideas.
  • Plant some seeds to get the conversation started on your social channels. You don’t have to tell your whole story with every post, just get them to click to your websites and shopping carts.
  • Use a plan. A content calendar is a great way to be sure that your social media posts don’t get pushed aside and then shortly forgotten about. You can use the calendar to schedule your posts, and then insert timely and impromptu content as it comes up. You’ll find the consistency helps your reach and saves you time.
