You asked and we answer! Most business owners and entrepreneurs see the value in having some sort of social media presence, but they don’t always understand the broad potential. So, you say you’re going to use Social Media to market your business, but then you let time slip away and you don’t take advantage of the social media opportunities available. We’ve gathered a bit of information to have at your fingertips to remind you to actually use this great tool!
How many people are using social media in 2025?
According to Statista, there are over 310 million uses on social media just in the United States in 2025, and that number is expected to continue growing. It is how Americans communicate, shop, socialize and learn and basically, hang out. If you want to sell your stuff, you should be where the people are. Virtually, at least.
Which Social Media Platform is the best for Marketing?
Because we help small and medium sized businesses market their restaurants, services and products, we stand by our mantra that choosing the right platform is dependent on your business uniquely based on your particular audience and your goals.
But, with that said, according to a forecast by eMarketer, we’re looking at Instagram becoming the largest social advertising platform in the US in 2025. Now, that data is based on total advertising spend. Based on users, different sources say different things but we’re looking at about 250 million users on Facebook, with Instagram not far behind.
What are the demographics of the top Social Media Platforms?
From Statista, the largest demographic on Facebook by age group is 25 to 34 year-olds at 24.2% with data from late in 2024. The 2nd largest was 35-44 making up about 19%.
Backlinko tells us that 78% of people who are 18-29 use Instagram.
Exploding topics says that 30% of US TikTok users are 25 to 34 years old and 55% of them are under 30.
Global Media Insight reports that 25.5% of YouTube users are Millennials (1981-1996) and 25.1% are Gen Z (1997-2012). Interestingly, their demographics also lean slightly more male.
With this information, you can use it to draw conclusions on which platforms should be your priority, based on your desired target audience. But remember, even a small demographic is probably hundreds of thousands of potential clients for your business.
When is the best time to post on Social Media?
You want the best bang for your buck, right? One post at the perfect time on the perfect platform and the floodgates are opened. Your website can barely keep up! But in real life, this question can be answered with much more confidence if you take the time to examine your data. You need to test and track. Post at a few different times and see if there is any difference in engagement or purchases (or whatever your goal is). Test different types of posts at certain times. Avoid times people are going to the platform for reasons that wouldn’t relate to your business. And if you’re still not sure, reach out to social media pros who can help you analyze this data. There will most certainly be a time frame that is better than others, you just have to put in the work to find it.
Is Social Media Marketing better for B2B or B2C Marketing?
Social Media Marketing can be successful for both B2B and B2C businesses as long as the strategy is good. Social media is the perfect place for data collection and analysis which makes retargeting a great return on investment.
